How long will it take for me to feel differently?

This depends on a variety of factors: the strength of our therapeutic relationship, your willingness to implement changes and use tools we discuss, execution of the changes you want to make, life stressors, the frequency of our sessions, and, most importantly, your desired pace.

how will i know if counselling is working?

Clients have told me they know counselling is working when they can pause before reacting, use different language when handling conflict, identify issues without judging themselves, and notice hopefulness.

Do I really need counselling if I start to feel better?

That’s up to you! Some people find that it’s easier to work on other issues once they start to feel better. Others prefer to take a break after finding resolution to a challenge.

what are your qualifications?

I completed my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Naropa University in 2022. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor in BC and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado, USA.

My clinical practicum involved working with formerly incarcerated clients. My clinical internship was in an Employee Assistance Program at the University of Colorado, Boulder; there I supported faculty and staff in a variety of capacities. I offered individual counselling and a psychoeducational workshop. After completing my degree, I worked at an eating disorder clinic in their Intensive Outpatient Program for four years. I conducted individual therapy and co-facilitated experiential, skills, and process groups.

I am committed to continuing education, especially about populations whose identities and life experiences are different from mine.
